My Story

Hi!

In August 2020 I'll be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Dig Deep.

Dig Deep is a charity which helps schools and communities gain access to clean water and sanitation facilities, working in areas of Kenya where 8 out of 10 people do not have access to safe sanitation. They focus on the 3 Ts: Taps, Toilets, and Training.

Dig Deep works to build infrastructure which provide schools and communities with a reliable, clean water source, using local labour and materials. They also install latrine blocks in schools for children to have a safe and hygienic place to go to the toilet. Finally, they train teachers and community health workers to understand how disease spreads and steps their community can take towards prevention, along with providing menstrual hygiene training to reduce stigma and correct misinformation. All of Dig Deep’s projects help to limit the spread of disease, improving school attendance and attainment, as well as helping teenage girls to continue their education and role in the community.

To give you an idea of how your money will help:

  • £25 could give a child a safe toilet in their school
  • £50 could give three children access to clean drinking water at their school
  • £100 could give 30 children and their families hygiene training to stop preventable diseases

Dig Deep has already supplied 27,000 people with access to safe water, with plans to double their reach in the next 3 years. But they can only continue their vital work with your help. I'm so grateful for anything you can donate to this fantastic charity. Thank you so much!
